It’s a good way of thinking. There’s plenty more to the game than the incremental rewards of raiding, and setting your goals where you can realistically have fun is a great way to approach this new start.

This cropped up in our guild on Moon Guard a couple times. The fact that the achievements announce it to the world when it happens doesn’t help, but it still upsets me when people start to throw around the “no life, living in mommy’s basement” crap.

I’m an officer, so I took it upon myself to tell them not to talk rudely about people they don’t know. Without asking, we have no way of knowing if they took special time off to play a game we ALL love to play. On top of that, it’s not just time that get’s someone to 80 as illustrated by the hundreds of people on each server who have spent just as much time in the game and are at various stages of leveling. It takes some determination and planning to get to the level cap as quickly as some have.

And if that’s what they enjoy doing, and they have the ability to do it? More power to them. Thanks for the post and letting me know I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

Excellent post. You provide a perspective I did not have. As to the question posed by Delos, maybe they do it so fast because there’s a lot to do at 80 to get ready for raiding? Or to get leveling their main out of the way if they want to level alts while they wait for others to catch up?

I don’t think “they have no life” when someone gets a server first or dings 80. I just wonder “why do it so fast?”. I don’t want to get to the burnout point again, and being at the end of the leveling curve so quickly (much less finishing all instances in the game) might do that to me.

Still, grats to those who put in the hard work to get to their goals!

Well said! Yes there are those that want to burn through everything as fast as they can jsut to prove the point. Then there’s those of us that take our time, but still are pushing a little fast cos jsut seeing new shiny stuff rocks! And then there’s “It’ll be there when I get there but I’m having fun HERE NOW dammit!” Nothing wrong with any of them.
