Part Time Druid inspired me when he wrote his article about finding your WoW voice. This is something I’ve really only just done. You see, I’ve been blogging for a total of eight years. I started on Open Diary, then Diary Place, then my own website, blogger, live journal, then self hosted Word Press in several forms. THEN I discovered WoW. Which lead to WoW blogs. Which led to me saying, I blog, I play WoW, I can do this too! But the more blogs I read, the more intimidating it got for me to blog among this awesome community. Why? I was good at blogging about my life, but I was approaching blogging about WoW that same way, while all the blogs I admired were such great teachers, theorycrafters, big time raiders, stuff I knew nothing about. How on earth could I fit in this world? I’m just a girl that plays WoW and blogs about it between loads of laundry and making dinner!
I’d been neglecting my personal blog for months by this point. And I missed it.
I wanted one localized blog, keeping two going was a pain. I also wanted to get my photos back online (an ongoing project). But my domain name, Lady-Jess.com didn’t quite fit. It was too late to change, as for whatever reason, I have subscribers! After a lot of discussion I simply changed the title to Lady Jess…And Then Some. That lead to deciding to import my old blog into this one. Then I realized my theme didn’t fit my life. It fit my WoW side but not my other side. So, I got a new theme. I braved Paint Shop Pro, and combined WoW and Life in my header. Still I was unsure. Then I read PTD’s article. And it fell together.
There are blogs out there that can teach you everything you ever wanted to know about Priests, Druids, Hunters, heck, every class in the game. There are blogs that can theorycraft, and theorymath faster than I can blink an eye. Then there’s me. After nine months, I’ve found my voice. I’ve become what I always was. A girl with a blog, that loves WoW. A girl that blogs about her latest raid, loot, accomplishments, mishaps and screwups. Rants about her latest bad pug, Blizzard bug, lack of gold, hatred of farming. A girl that is married to the Army, with two drama queen teen daughters, two dogs with their own issues, that has an addiction to coffee, and all things pink. A girl that loves photography and screenshots, and includes both in her on site gallery. I’m Lady Jess…and then some.
