As the countdown to the patch runs, we are still doing Kara for badges and gear ups. I’m one of the few mains desperately trying to get my gear finished up. Simply because, oddly, my alts leveled before my main. Wierd circumstances, and too long a story to tell. But, she’s getting close. Chess however has been her nemesis. REFUSING to drop a certain pair of boots. except for that one time, when I rolled a friggin THREE! This run it seemed my luck was changing. Maiden dropped Mitts of the Treemender, Moroes dropped Duck Idol of the Avian Heart (useful in WOTLK finally), and even Netherspite felt generous and dropped Shining Chain of the Afterworld. But still, I trembled with trepidation going into chess. So, on my way to my water elemental I stopped by Medivh’s ghost.
/threaten with the wrath of doom /slap Medivh
And…BINGO Forestlord Striders! I almost fainted. we almost had to call 911. Not for me, but because a certain real life friend and fellow guildie comes over vent with “Awww poor Jess. How many times has she tried, and those boots still haven’t dropped”. I grumbled at him something about rubbing it in. Then our Friendly Neighborhood Fim, announced that noone there would want these boots would they?? I rolled….and rolled a 9!!! Thank ELUNE I was the only leather wearer. Well except Fim’s rogue…with his bare feet.
And what about all that honor I built up this week? And those 40 Eye of the Storm marks? Well the honor was spent on Vindicator’s Band of Salvation to replace my LAST equipped blue, besides a couple Idols. 34 more badges of justice, and I’ll have her Grovewalker’s Leggings, and she’ll FINALLY be complete. And ready to head off into the expansion. This time…she is FIRST to level.

That’s what my Mom always told me, and that’s what my shiney new healing cloak says too! That’s right, Kharmaa’s Shroud of Hope now belongs to Jessamyn! Thanks to a surprise run at Gruul tonight with another guild on our server. We took down HKM, and beat the drool out of Gruul, I was a bit dead in that screenshot. There was supposed to be a Mag run right after, but not enough of the right classes or something. I wasn’t really paying attention I was too busy going OMG MY FIRST GRUUL KILL!! We ended up all going to Shatt to repair, refill, etc. And I ran to get my cloak. That was when they made a decision. And I got so see another FIRST kill.
No, not The Blob. The Lurker!! I died on the first spout the first time. But thanks to some advice from our guild raid leader, I managed to survive the second attempt and be ALIVE when the big smelly slimeball fell. A couple guildies got great upgrades tonight, which is always a good thing. I only have 4 badges to my name at the moment, but hey, I saw two firsts in ONE night, AND got the cloak I’ve wanted for ages. Only 3 upgrades left for Miss Jessamyn, and I will be set. Her leather chess boots, a ring, a neck, and her 100 badge pants. I’m wearing cloth in the boot and leg slots now, and while I realize no I shouldn’t be getting hit, and armor shouldn’t matter, both are clear upgrades to what I’m wearing. And with WOTLK bring an armor bonus to tree form, the higher the better.
I also managed to get my priest back up to par, I just lack confidence in my healing on her right now. I’m going to work on that soon. I know I said I was shelving her with the Xpac, but right now, we kinda need holy priests, and if I can help out by having mine ready, I will. This guild has been so super in taking me in, making me feel welcome, it’s just my way of giving back.

I have issues with numbers apparently. First, I roll a THREE on the chess boots. A THREE (go ahead, laugh, I am)!! This is what happened when Attumen’s healing gloves dropped for my priest the first time…only I rolled higher, I rolled a FOUR that time. /face desk thank GOD someone that needed them was there and won though. I’ll just keep trying til they drop again. Hopefully, I’ll do better than a 3…lol! I didn’t have any better luck on the Prince cloak, and to top it off, I forgot how to count. I figured I could get the badge cloak. Kharma’s Shroud of Hope.
It has a special meaning to me, as well as being an upgrade. The flavor text reads “Everything happens for a reason”. Which is something that has been proven vividly in my life. Example: Hubby was going to school to be a truck driver. However, at the last minute his tuition cosigner backed out. We were freaking out, and he went back to working some crappy job while he waited for something better. Turns out he got a decent full time job (well, it was full time anyhow), and we found a place to live. We’d been staying with my Gram. It was then, he reunited with his Dad after over a decade of no contact. Had the trucking thing worked out, that would have never happened. Anyhow, I went to the badge vendor…it was then I discovered I only had 57 badges. Somehow I added 48 and 9 and got 60 in my head.
Clearly I fail at numbers. Epic fail. I need to avoid Casinos I think…lol!
So, I still have plans. I’ll be keeping leatherworking AND alchemy my druid. Two crafting professions is rough, but a good thing for a raiding toon. Which, is what she is…or will be. i need to prioritize her rep gains. I’m thinking Shat’tar first, for the alchemist’s stone recipe. Then I’ll work on Honor Hold for the healing glyph. She also needs to get her BM run done, so she gets her kara key. Once she has the Shat’tar rep, and the stone made, I’ll focus more on her SSO rep for that trinket recipe. I’m still torn on badges, whether to keep saving for the 100 badge leggings, or get what I need now. I’ll probably get the cloak, but that could change. At the moment though, I’m working on another epic flying mount for her gatherer. My hunter provides the herbs and skinning. Yes, I know, it would have made sense to get the hunter’s bird before the druid’s swift flight form, but…I’ve sacrificed my druid enough since my priest came along, it was a FORM, I had to have it.
This leads to the only solid plan I have for WotLK. I’m only leveling the druid and hunter. I MAY level the priest later, but at the moment she’ll basically be my dust maker. After healing on my druid, I’m finding I like priest healing less than I did when I started. I have so many more options. The great thing about a resto druid,to me is the wide variety of ways each healer of that class can heal. It’s like going from playing Checkers to Chess. Both are fun, but one has alot more moves! The hunter has to level to keep my druid supplied. That’s why she’s getting a speedy bird. Eventually. I know how to generate the gold, even without dailies. I just need to get focused and do it. That’s probably what I’ll be doing today.
And since it’s Friday…I wish you all a great weekend!!

So, I gathered up the gold to train for Artisan Riding. Finally. And I embarked on my druid quest around midnight Thursday night/Friday morning. Before going to bed, I had gotten over halfway through the solo parts. This quest chain was just amazing. And somewhat a pain in the neck. Mostly because of the travel involved at the start. The first thing I had to do was
teleport to Moonglade. Now, I don’t know about other druids, but I’ve only ever used this as a shortcut to the trainer. So I never appreciated it’s lack of a cooldown. I do now! I teleport to moonglade, only to be told to go RIGHT back to Outlands and talk to this guy in Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh. Fine! Hearth, fly down (glad I grabbed a swift mount when I grabbed my riding skill), and he wants me to pick some flowers from atop the mushrooms in Zang. But I must be careful, they explode violently when mishandled. Hmm…ok, I think about Nightmare Vine’s former damage over time effect and go for it. No. wrong. Try again. They throw you OFF the mushroom! For any future druids, keep your finger over flight form’s button during this quest. I didn’t. It hurt. I learned.
Turned them in along with 10 Dreaming Glory, and 10 Ancient Lichen. Then it’s BACK to Moonglade to escort some guy around a den, without letting him die to get the three relics you need. Done. Back to Zang. I went on with the chain up until the eagle spirit. That killed me. Resto is not good with a dozen birds pecking at their bark. That part, and the other two spirits waited til today. Oddly, twice today I got parts of this chain done at others’ reminding. My friend Aq called and asked if I was ready to start. So I logged in and we did the three spirits easily with his hunter.
Next up, Azshara. Again using that handy Teleport Moonglade spell. Much love for it now. I need to retrieve a moonstone near the river. Now, I’d heard this was a fun quest, so other than get the coordinates for the stone, and the overview I didn’t read any comments, tips, or ways to make it easier. I just got there grabbed my stone, and proceeded to giggle at the events that unfolded. First I get stunned by this snarky little goblin, giving her time to jump in the Southfury River and run away with my stone. I jump in, and have to swim after her (first real use I’ve had for aquatic form!). Along the way I’m dodging bombs that either frost nova me, blow me straight up out of the water (and out of swim form), and try and grab the speed boosts (like you see in BG). So, I got crafty. Well, I suppose it’s druid common sense. Every time I got frost nova’d, I used cat form to get out. Cat form tracks humanoids, so I could see where this little snot was. Eventually she got caught in her own trap, and I scared her into giving me the stone. Dire Seal Form FTW! After returning the stone to Cenarion Refuge, I was given THE quest. Defeat the Raven Lord. But, it was time to log off and only a couple hours before Kara which my priest was signed up for.
After Kara (where my priest got some sweet new holy gear for her new holy spec…yes, again.), I logged off, ran to the store, and logged back in. I got a whisper from a guildie asking if I’d gotten a group for my quest yet. This is the second time, someone else has thought of it first by the way. Very cool. I didn’t see any tanks on, except the ones who’d just finished Kara. I asked in gchat, got another whisper from our druid tank volunteering any of his toons we needed. Sweet! I whispered our Kara pally tank, and he agreed, so I called up Aq again and told him to get on, since he offered earlier. Off we went, Tree, Pally, Rogue (with jumper cables!), Hunter, Mage. We had a couple unfortunate incidents with those stupid ghosts that spawn from the mobs. They kept killing ME. The second they spawned, they came right after me and boom, dead tree. It happened so often, the common cry on vent was “Run Jess Run!”. I’m a tree, that’s so not fair. We one shotted Anzu though. We had a bit of trouble with the final boss, and after many repairs, and attempts, we called it. But I know these guys were tired, and it was late, and we’d ALL just done Kara…so it’s super awesome that they helped me with this. In the end I finished the entire swift flight quest in less than 24 hours.
I went and turned in my quest, flew around swiftly for a while Squealing, and danged near crying for joy when I cast it for the first time. This is something I have wanted for SO long. To see my druid hit 70, see her start raiding, gearing up, seeing things I NEVER thought I’d see. That includes raiding by the way. I never pictured that happening when I created this first character. Geting my priest to 70 was cool, so was my hunter. But Jessamyn, she is my first, and favorite. I guess I just saved the best for last. She still has a lot to do before the expansion comes out. Many badges to collect, Elixirs and Flasks to discover. Most importantly she needs to pay back the 1200g she borrowed from her unsuspecting husband’s rogue…hehe. It’s been an exciting day, that’s for sure. And maybe tomorrow will be too. Who Knows. Either way, I go to bed a happy druid.
Good Night:)

Deaths Per Second that is. Kara part two was tonight. And although Eyebrows, Boomkin of Doom tried, he could not beat my mass quantities of horizontal DPS. I think he beat me last night though. I actually had a spectacular yoyo effect on Netherspite. I died, my Twisting Nether trinket procced, so I rezzed, I died again, and got a battle rez, after which I died AGAIN. That’s right, 3 deaths, 10 seconds. I’m the queen. I actually beat everyone. TWELVE deaths all told. Why do I have points in Subtlety again?
Tonight we had another newish tank, so there was alot of learning going on. Both tanks picked up their roles, and are progressing quite well. This is where I brag about my guild again. I admittedly was spoiled by my former raid leader. It was terrifying thinking of moving, and having a new one. But, not only has every leader been calm, and easy to listen to, they are all incredibly patient. I was so used to a tank always leading, but these guys can run with a priest leading, and that priest (an example from this run actually, when he wasn’t on his rogue) will still know what every class, including the tank needs to know/do/remember. I guess that comes from their many many alts/mains having already come through all of this. I’m happy to say I’ve gotten used to their way of doing things finally, my biggest challenge going from one guild to another. We had some decent drops going around. Still no boots for me, but as long as I need badges, I can keep trying. Grats to Awl on her new shinies!
Epic Flight is coming along. I’m working on the last 2k gold now. After Kara I went to my hunter and farmed some basilisks for the meat and skins, flew around gathering herbs, killed some bog lords and herbed them til my bags were full. After which I went to Jess, had her make Elixirs and pots, and a flask, sent those off to my broker alt to AH. Gotta love when you decide to make 10 elixirs and get 20 out of it. I made over 100 potions, and elixirs in the last couple days and not a single discovery. Tomorrow I’m logging straight into the game after my morning coffee and Blog Azeroth chat, and doing two rounds of dailies. I’ll probably go back to questing on Jess since there’s no room in her quest log to get the dailies done efficiently. My goal is to have at least the skill by the end of the weekend. I also can use Hubby’s miner, since he’s not home.
For now, it’s bed time. The dog keeps nudging me and walking back to the bedroom, so either Timmy fell in the well, or she’s ready to go to bed.
