I Swear I JUST Had Her…
Aug 26th
I swear it was just yesterday I had a sweet little newborn weighing in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 17.5 inches. How on earth can she turn 17 today???

What a Week!
Aug 23rd
I’m at the end of what has been a very busy week. You see we traveled all over WA starting last Monday. My Mother in Law came in on Sunday evening, which just happened to coincide with my Hunny’s last week of a month’s leave. So, we saved everything we wanted to do before leaving this winter for her visit. Monday we hit the beach at Westhaven State Park, and visited the little seaside town of Westport, WA. Where we watched some surfers, waded around in the surf and got sand in our flip flops. (click to biggify)
Tuesday we took the day off, and Wednesday we hit the POint Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Reston, WA. (Click to enbiggen, full photoset from Flickr is on the sidebar)
Thursday, we embarked upon a trip to Mt St Helens National Monument. I have never, even in Alaska, seen anything so Amazing. We drove to an Altitude of 4000 feet and crossed bridges that made my heart jump to my throat. The path of destruction is clearly visible for miles, and you can see nature still surviving and regrowing.
I think I printed out over 100 photos for Mom in Law, so if I ever become a rich and famous photographer, she can say she got my first prints. She left very early Saturday morning, and we all loafed the day away. Sunday, I redid my blog. Which is originally what I wanted to blog about today. I tweeted that I needed a new layout. And Jaedia The Lazy Sniper came to my rescue by suggesting the Mystique WordPress Theme. I liked it at first glance, but the more I worked with it the more I found to love. It has some lovely widgets and headers included, it’s easily customized, includes a lightbox effect so I can post thumbnails and not have to fiddle with a lightbox plugin, I just adore it! So come look dammit! And I found my lovely new header in this Article from Smashing Magazine.
Of Owning Frogs
May 10th
I ralized I didn’t show the whole froggy setup last time. And since it’s monday, I have nothing else to say. So Here we go.
They really hate leaving the plants alone. I replant them, they uproot them. I have given up on it.
I changed the water on Saturday. A fairly simple procedure. drain 3/4 of it out with a baster, and refill with spring water. I had no choice since they decided to do what boy and girl frogs do, and leave little eggs all over it, also the male had decided it was time to shed his skin, and there was icky floating around. It should be good for six months now. I just need a very small skimmer net.
They are quite fun to watch, and listen to. They’ve started singing to me in the evenings. And sometimes, they’re even photogenic.
Froggy Say Relax!
They still need names. We definitely have male and female.
Welcome 2010!
Jan 1st
2009 is finally over. Swept under the carpet like crumbs you’re too lazy to sweep into a dustpan. I don’t remember alot of big shining moments really. Alot of it was spent in anticipation of "The Deployment", and dealing with the training and preparation that comes with that.
There was the Briefing From Hell, in which I learned that I’m totally doing deployments wrong.
There was my major epiphany that relieved alot of my stress.
And my Minor Epiphany, in which I stopped faking it.
There were adorable pictures.
There was FEAR but…
Then there was HOPE.
There was pride.
There was Self Acceptance.
And there was Silliness.
With 2010, there is only one thing that matters. THIS is the year my husband comes home. It may still be months away. But 2009, even before he left, started as the year he was going to leave. It was a cloud over our heads that remained there all year, and just got steadily darker. Now, it’s slowly getting lighter, and fading a way. One day at a time.
That’s all I needed for a Happy New Year. That, and a new computer.
You’ll Put Your Eye Out!!
Dec 29th
Around a week ago, I was talking to Hunny and the following conversation ensued.
Jess: i wanted to send ya stuff over there but thats just more ya gotta pack to bring home
Hunny: true
Jess: besides this way i have til R&R to get you some "toys"
Hunny: ohhhh like a redrider bb gun?
Jess: you'll put your eye out!
Hunny: ohhhh mom
Well, as most people know, I'm a bit of a smartass. So I hopped on over to Amazon and ordered exactly that. It should have been delivered Christmas Eve, however UPS decided that it was going to be delivered somewhere else. I don't know HOW, considering my house number and our NAME is right there on the house. But it was delivered up the street, to someone who'd been away. When they came home they found the box, and she brought it here yesterday. The box had been torn open, likely by the local teenagers looking for a free ride. Luckily the contents were still inside.

One 1938 model, Red Ryder BB Gun.
I couldn't wait til R&R to show him. So I showed him on webcam today and he got a big laugh out of it. Which is of course what I was aiming for. It makes me happy. Besides, he'll have plenty to smile about while he's here on R&R. I thought it was a better thing to give him a giggle over there.
