That is pretty much how I feel about WoW, and the current zones and content. No, this isn’t about raiding. It surprises people to think of someone willing to stop leveling lower level alts if they have to repeat Outlands, and Northrend. Or to even stop leveling them now and wait until Cataclysm releases in a year+.
When I leveled my first toon to the vanilla and TBC level caps, I was captivated the entire way. It was all new and shiney and oh so exciting. Then came my second, and third, by the fourth I was doing it by memory. Then came WoTLK. My druid moved through first, and everything was new and shiney again! New mobs, new zones, new quests, new toys! Weeee!! Next came my hunter, Ok, so I’d done SOME of the zones already, but had a few left to level through. And the newness continued. Next came my rogue. Crap. I’ve done both starting zones, fine…I’ll flip a coin. Ugh…Next zone…I’ve done this twice, but I’ll grit my teeth and get through it. OMG I’m only lvl 72. Lots more gritting of teeth and iron will later she hit 80. Then I looked at my priest….and said screw it, and deleted her. That’s right people, I Brigwyn’ed!
Never really liked her anyhow, and being shadow with no crit after the major overhaul of her class meh, bye bye.
My druid was the lead dog. The others got bored with the view eventually.
My alts are currently a lvl 36 Shammy, who’s waiting for my husband’s return before she levels further. And a lvl 38 warlock, who I plan to get to 40 and wait to level further until Cataclysm. Why? Because she ain’t the lead dog, and the view from 40-80 ain’t changin until release! to me it makes perfect sense to wait until there is huge earth shattering change to take her the rest of the way to 58. It’ll be HER chance to be the lead dog.
The shammy, when her man returns, will also get the chance to be the lead dog, and explore life in the areas the Warlock didn’t tread.
If they get to 58, and have no other option than to continue in Outlands, then they’ll retire, and live happily in Dalaran, drinking wine, making enchanted items into dust, and reading. And you know what?
I am OK with that. Because On the other side of the coin, my 80′s will be going through the 80-85 zones with the druid leading the way.
