emc2karaSo What do you get when you take one protection pally, add 4 hunters and two mages, and mix in three healers? You get a Badgezan run! Not enough were on for Gruul last night, so they decided to go to Kara. I got a whisper from the tank asking if I wanted to take my hunter, so I said…well why not! She wasn’t doing anything else, and was fully stocked up on everything she needed, might as well. So off we went.

This was the most unique Kara run I have ever seen. ONE tank. ONE! A very good prot pally. No, I did NOT kill the tank, not once! I killed myself on the way to curator, but…well I’m good at that, no surprise there. As I was saying one tank, 3 healers, 4 hunters (and pets), and 2 mages. The place didn’t stand a chance. We one shotted everything from Attumen through Shade and Illhoof. Yes that included Moroes, and Opera was even trying to challenge us with the Crone event, but we were not to be thwarted!! Another interesting change was…”screw master loot…roll need if ya need it , greed for vendor”. I can’t even tell you how hard hitting those buttons were after 18 months of passing…lol! But Cai walked out of there with the Emerald Ripper from Moroes, and the Neck from shade, and I think 9 badges. I forgot to grab the ones off Moroes.

I have to say the guild I moved to is great. Very relaxed, great senses of humor, patient with mistakes (and Elune knows I make them). They’ve given me a great home, and I’m very happy to be there. Tonight…Jess shall be melting some troll faces…ZA…you’re next!

Cairessa had her first Kara run with her new guild last night. It was a totally different experience than what I’m used to, but it was also very cool to see things done differently. Each boss fight was a little different than what I’ve been used to, but just as successful. We hit 7 bosses in 4 hours.

Group makeup: We ran with only 2 healers, and only one was a priest. The other was a resto shammy. Both were great.

Attumen…well ok that one wasn’t different, I mean how many ways can one kill this guy?

Moroes: We had ONE shackle. This meant three adds go down before Moroes. I trapped the holy pally at the far left back corner of the room (near the main table), the other hunter trapped the MS Warrior at the far right, we burned down the spriest, then both traps, then Moroes. We lost the priest once, but luckily for us we had a Laser Chicken of Doom to toss him a battle rez.

Opera: Big Bad Wolf. Not much different here, except I now now as a hunter I can get out of the LRRH debuff by feigning death, as long as it isn’t resisted. It didn’t happen to me though. Basically we did the same as I’m used to. Ranged DPS stage right, tank and BBW stage left, kill kill kill. He did not drop my gun. Bad Wolf, no cookie. Also on the usher pulls going into the hall, hunters were asked to turn growl on, keeping their threat above the squishies should a tank get iceblocked. I had to double check to make sure my ears weren’t failing me when they said Growl On…lol

Maiden with no pally and two healers. this is the boss I’m used to skipping if we don’t have a pally in the group. But these guys pulled it off, and she, like every boss that night dropped caster gear, or plate it was a theme…lol!

Curator: Not much different here either except for positioning, the big news with his death was my hunter getting her T4 gloves!! Woot!

Shade of Aran: This guy talks more than any NPC I have ever seen. I swear, “I want this nightmare to be over” Well news flash, we do too so just DIE! Pretty much the same plan here as I’m used to, except instead of running out to the nearest wall for the arcane explosions, we all ran to the door so the healers could top everyone off.

Nightbane: I don’t know what we did different on this guy, because I think I’ve only had one attempt on him before this. Basically stayed to one side of the terrace, or the other so we had room to move away from charred earth. Toss slowing traps as he takes off in the air and burn down the skellies. Happy to say he died on our second attempt.

Of course you know if I was there I had to have a mishap right? I sent Whispurr after a mob in the pulls right before Moroes, just as that mob died. I did it with just the right timing that he went to the next nearest mob and pulled another group. Seriously wanted to crawl under the stairs at that point. But noone killed me for it, and noone died thank God.

It was a fun run, everyone was great. Which is very much what I’m used to on my priest. No differences there:)

Cairessa, sprawled in front of the fire with her faithful cat Whispurr recalls their long history together. She strokes his ethereal form absently with a smile as he purrs softly between snores beside her.

She was young then, as was he. Both around their 20th season. Cairessa, having left the only home she can remember since the crash of the Exodar, with only the clothes on her back and bits of weaponry and silver earned from doing odd jobs, went off to explore new parts of this strange world she had awoken in as a youngling. The land of the night elves she had heard. Darkshore. A place bathed in perpetual darkness after something she’d heard was called “The Sundering”. She had come upon the Ruins of Mathystra in the north. On the ground she saw figurines scattered about, and picked one up. Suddenly she found herself sent sprawling by this very large, very angry cat!

He was the most beautiful thing she had seen. Upon closer inspection as he crept towards her for another attack she realized, he was a ghost. She could see right through him, yet feel him as though he was as alive as she. Or as she was until now, he seemed intent on killing her as he swatted her across one cheek with a massive paw. Recalling what her mentors had taught her as a young hunter, she collected herself, forced her nerves to calm, and started talking to him. In calm, soothing tones. She reached out one hand for him to sniff, and that’s when it happened. This big, vicious feline ghost, placed his head in her hands and purred. Through this contact, she learned bits and pieces of his story…enough to add to the stories of The Sundering and give a clear insight. He showed her high elves and demons working together, she saw Night Sabers slaughtered in battle beside the night elves defending this land from a terrible evil. it was a familiar evil, although she couldn’t recall why. She was certain it had something to do with why the inhabitants of this world distrusted her.

Whispurr has been with her for 50 seasons. He has fought at her side against orcs, beasts, demons. Seeing by his ghostly form, one could be fooled into thinking he is indestructible. But Cairessa knows that not to be true. He has his battle scars. He sleeps more these days, unlike his younger days where he’d drive her crazy with his incessant demands to wrestle around and play every chance he got. Nowadays he was content to rest at her side and enjoy a nice pet. Unlike Cairessa, who has barely aged, Whispurr has. She knew it was time. Time to start considering his retirement from adventuring. Oh he’ll never be sent away from her. He’ll always have a home. But she knew she had to start training a replacement….

We have boots. We accepted that our SGB’s (stupid green boots) were not as bad as we thought. I was all Zen with the SBG’s as a matter of fact. So sayeth BRK, so let it be done. He’s after all the H&R block of the hunter world. He speaks, we listen. And apparently, the loot gods do too! We now have Fiend Slayer Boots. The name just rolls off the tongue doesn’t it? Funny thing, I wasn’t figuring on going to Kara. I was on standby, there were plenty of DPS. The run got put on hold due to lack of healers. When it picked back up, I was invited. Yay me! We ripped through shade, I can’t tell you how satisfying it was shooting him in various body parts with fast pointy projectiles (Engineer made of course!)! As a shadow priest, I can’t really cast in motion, but you bet your booty I can as a hunter! Whispurr laid the smackdown on him while I pewpew’ed til he qq’ed and dropped Drape of the Dark Reavers. A cloak worth showing, beautiful dark wine color. Hey, don’t laugh, looks count too! It’s why we have the show/hide helm and cloak options. Blizz knows danged well there are some clunkers! And yes, yes there is now a +12 agi enchant included, still working on the boot enchant.

This is where Jess becomes a ditz yet again. I’m really surprised they trust me with my own weapons sometimes. I carry 4 weapons in my bag. A Crystalforged Waraxe, desperately enchanted with savagery, to boost my RAP a bit. and of course the plus 50 stam for health, I generally carry Stellaris and Ceds carver, and I also got Hellforged Halberd…well because I could, and it has +hit. I also got the SSO neck from exalted rep. I sat there after kara working out my best +hit set. I’m a draenei hunter. This is where Jess the Dipshit enters. For months I’ve griped that Heroic Presence effects my party, but not me. Why? because I can’t see it in my buffs. ELUNE FORBID I read the stupid racial text. “extra 1% hit to YOU and all party members in 30 yards”. /headdesk . This means instead of 9% to hit cap, I need 8%. I’m sitting at 7.42%. This explains why on the prince fight I only missed 2 steady shots and 1 auto. I’m happy with my hit…I think it’s a safe number, and if I get a little more great, but I’m not going to obsess about it. Much. Really.

I’m very glad I chose to spend time on my hunter between the priest (semi-retired now) and the druid getting to 70. I’m really enjoying her, it’s brought life into the game again. I don’t know how, or why I got into the attitude that I didn’t want to play her. I do enjoy her, even the complications that come with the class. You know, the ones you don’t see while you are zooming level to level. The ones some hunters never learn to handle. Pet management (get that cat away from nethersprite while he banishes, and away from shade before the arcane explosion!, turn growl off and passive is your friend! Save that healer dash/growl/intimidate) , trapping (love trapping with my 2 beastlord pieces), it’s fun. I am out of denial. Sure my druid may wait a while, but that’s ok. I’m playing again. Not just phoning it in.

We also have a wish list. I need a bit of shattar rep, so might as well work on that Beast Lord Cuirass. I’m 4 badges away from Steadying Bracers. After those, we want the Shifting Camo pants and warfeathered loop belt. We like ignoring armor, this makes steady shot even nicer. WTB bigger steady shots! And badges let us do that. Maybe…maybe we’ll even get the Sunfury bow, legacy would be nice, but I want that bow. Although I adore my Lohn’goron, Bow of the Torn-heart for it’s beautifully done storyline, and flavor text…more damage would be good.

Randomly…prince also dropped a very nice ring. I had to roll against my hubby for it. He rolled an 85, I rolled…1. That’s right, a ONE! That man is lucky I love him. I tried the sad wifey face but…he resisted. I apparently need some more spell hit.

I’m just sayin, first kara run on my hunter, after a comment from BRK wishing us blessings,  everything just threw loot at me. OK so it threw gloves at me. Alot of gloves! Attumen started it with Gloves Of Dextrous Manipulation . The only rogue had better, as did the other hunter, the druid was a boomkin…I got leather gloves. Woot! Party. But…WAIT!! After Moroes, and Opera, we do Curator. He drops Gloves of the Fallen Hero. I lost the roll to the mage, but hey, I had purple leather gloves. Life was G-o-o-d. Time for Maiden! Whipped her giant butt, and she drops… Gloves of Quickening. Fastest upgrades EVER! They are now gemmed with +16 attack power, and a =8 attack power/+6 stam gem and enchanted with 26 more attack power. B-e-a-utiful. I had very little (ie: none at all) trapping to do, except as shackle backups on Moroes, think I did ok. My job was simply to provide MQoSRDPS (see I remembered the little “o” that time), and I think I did that. I was #3 consistantly behind the other hunter and the mage. That is until our 2nd attempt at Illhoof, when I grabbed #2 and kept it.

Throughout the night our tankadin threw little tests at us. Starting with Md pulls. I think I did ok on all of mine. Even in curators room where it can be a bit scary. I didn’t accidentally MD the priests. Ok, I Md’ed the ONE priest, but it wasn’t accidentally, it was for my own amusement. That and he said something smart, he earned it. He did, I swear.

Kara wasn’t enough though. A few of us decided to try heroic mech too. Until the stupid hunter realized she didn’t have the key. Which quickly led to the realization…she didn’t have the rep. Yeah, I’m the stupid hunter. But we did it on normal. I remember when I was healing and that place was just so hard. But tonight…hot knife through butter. Seriously, we slaughtered the joint. Ok we had ONE wipe on that witch with the fire elementals, but we got her. She gave me Stellaris. Which I am now dual wielding with Ced’s carver until a better option comes along. On to Pathaleon the Calculator. He didn’t help me with my kid’s algebra at all, but I’ll take Beast Lord Helm anyhow, since it matches my shoulders. It’s now got shiny gems and a glyph too.

Now…if I could just get rid of these stupid green boots. But I shan’t complain. No, No, I shall not. The loot Gods were good to me. i didn’t have any big screwups, and I had fun. I went in expecting to be the group idiot, and pretty much came out not so bad. If I have to pvp for boots, I’ll do that. Maybe, possibly…*twitches*
