I have a little blog schedule in my head. It has me blogging about games Monday and Wednesday, Life on Tuesday and Thursday, a Wrap up on Friday, and who knows what you get on the weekends. However my computer is still being a jerk. My new one is still "in production" with an estimated ship date of February 1. So all I have from the gaming world is a screenshot. A rather cool one of I say so myself, and hopefully it suffices to begin the temptation of Stop to the wonderful game of Dragon Age: Origins.

This may be my first time turning a comment into a blog post. But at the time it was asked I only had a vague answer, however now…I have it! The question comes from Delicia over at Delicia Sez

I’ve been debating getting this game.. I tend to spend most of my gaming time on WoW.. Any comments as to how..er.. adult.. it is? I ask cuz my 13-yr old was interested in it, but I wasn’t sure about the content being appropriate. Violence I have no problem with, sexual-stuff I’d like to censor just a bit longer..

At the time I wasn’t very far into Dragon Age: Origins. I knew one of my companions was rather scantily dressed from the waist up, and at least one enemy demon was darned near naked. Seriously, these demons make the World of Warcraft warlock’s pet Succubus look absolutely PRUDISH. I kid you not they wear pasties, and some wisps of cloth at the waist.  They are beautifully drawn but definitely not suitable for the younger crowd. This of course greatly depends on your choices as a parent, so your mileage may vary.

As I progressed further into the game, I encountered Ye Old Fashioned Whorehouse, some rather colorful language, AND the realization that the character you play can enter into romantic situations with his or her companions. Some…even allow threesomes (Oy I can just see the spam pingbacks from the bad websites starting now).

So, while it is an amazing video game, beautifully drawn, wonderfully written and loads of fun to play. I really wouldn’t recommend it for kids under…I’ll go with 16. Unless you are ready to have some serious conversations. I say 16 based on my own kids. By now my daughter has learned more than I did, just by going to public school. Nothin’ like saying something to your husband you think won’t be understood and hearing your kid go “Oh gross Mom!!”. Sigh, she’s not supposed to understand!

Hey, Jessmyn. You’re a Grey Warden now. Would you be so kind as to take Alistair here and go light the signal in the tower? A couple more guards will join you when you get there.

eeeeep

Oh did we forget to mention the Ogre at the top? So Sorry. Oh, we didn’t provide the guards with any ranged weapons? Our Bad. Good Luck!
