Switching mains, late in the game, is a challenge. Not so much for my Shadow priest, but for my rogue. She is pretty behind the curve really. She was always just a fun alt for me. Sure, I’ve played my alts alot, but my druid was always my main. She’s been shelved before for periods of time, but never like this. This time it’s permanent. The rogue is jut way too much fun. It should be illegal.
I have killed 15 quest mobs and not taken a single hit.
I have made almost double the coin loot from pickpocketing.
I have found I love the extra challenge of the mutilate spec in groups.
I have also found both the priest and the rogue have taken on their own personalities. This never happened with my druid, or my hunter. They were always just me playing them. Jessrayje the priest, is a snarky, evil wench, prone to hissing at people and generally being a creepy stalker.
Seenah is alot like Beatrix Kiddo as played by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. Quiet, sneaky, vindictive, and toxic. And lethal. In my mind she smiles with every kill. By the time you realize she’s there, you’re dead.
In fact that character was partly what inspired her. I suppose I could have named her after her, but that was too much. In fact, she’s actually named for a WWE wrestler, Jon Cena. Who’s tagline is “You can’t SEE me”, and who’s signature move is the STFU, which with kick and kidney punch, fits.
I have always had healer type mains. Because I felt I HAD to be useful, but I’ve finally outgrown that. You aren’t useful to yourself if you don’t truly enjoy the role. Will I always have a spot in a group as melee dps? Of course not. Does that bother me? Not a bit. My priest, is still dual specced, but shadow is her true calling. Will she heal as needed? of course. She’s a hybrid, it’s what she does.
There is a freedom in finding what you truly love to play. And in letting go.

Ok I am SO picking your brain for my shadow priest, she’s lvl 76 now. Finally got around to leveling her from 70 where she’s been parked since WOTLK came out. Considering my existing 80′s are holy pally, boomkin druid, and hunter, going back and playing this SQUISHY character is definately a different mindset. I honestly don’t plan on healing with her ever because my healing is all on my pally and that’s how I like it.
I have a friend that plays a rogue main, and LOVES it. He switched from his warrior main and won’t go back. I’ve been debating what to make my Worgen when I make one for Cataclsym… my hubby is going to make his a rogue, so I kind of was steering away from that because 1. Both of us playing the same class means less likely to group together and 2. he’ll probably be better at it than me >.<
Still undecided..
Shadow priests actually have pretty good survivability, more than mages not quite as much as locks. When soloing, keep your bubble up as often as possible, and vampiric embrace, you’ll shrug off damage with the bubble and heal yourself via vampiric embrace.
I never made the connection with my boy Cena and your rogue’s name. For that madam I salute thee! *throws up Cena’s signs*
