This is the second time I have opted to do all my blogging here at lady-jess.com. The first time, I think I posted a few things and then went back to having two blogs. I don't really know why. Except I figured noone cared about life, they wanted to read about WoW that's why they came here. A very cute little Almost Evil gnome however told me to stick with it this time. So I am.
It's my little slap at the gamer stereotype I guess. You know the one, we have no lives, we live on nothing but Mt Dew and dry cereal staring like zombies at our computers, shutting ourselves in our homes with no contact with the outside. You know, like Columbus in *Zombieland.
Well I'm here to blatantly say screw you up yours to that stereotype. I sit here and complain about it every time I'm confronted with it. But that does no good, when I'm the only one hearing it. So I'm putting myself out there. I may lose some readers, since this blog WAS in fact once built solely around World of Warcraft. And that's something I'll have to live with if it happens.
I'm still blogging about gaming, and I'll blog about WoW again when I have a computer that can play it without shutting off in a snit. But this is my Christmas gift to me. My blogging freedom. My life, in a gaming blog. Which I guess isn't really a gaming blog anymore. It's just MY blog. As it should be. Not putting my gaming hobby on one blog, and blogging about "Real Life" on another. But embracing gaming as part of my life, and putting it all together.
I'm also eliminating the term "Real Life" unless talking about Fantasy vs Real Life. Because there is no "real life". There's just LIFE, and we all have one. There are no "real life friends" there are just friends no matter how you meet.
So take that stereotype and smack it around the next time you see it. Or smack the person using it. Because I'm here to say Life and Gaming DO mix, like chocolate and peanut butter. Deliciously.
*If you haven't seen this movie, make a point to watch it. Even if you don't LIKE horror/zombie movies you will like this. I swear! I did!

I’ve always said that I found the two blog idea to be silly. And I’ve always felt bad that people find these justification posts necessary. Not to sound like a total jerk or anything, because I count a lot of WoW bloggers amongst my friends, but if more WoW bloggers did this, I might read their blogs. Heh.
.-= TJ´s last blog ..We’re not married at all yet and that’s why he doesn’t know better. =-.
You don’t sound like a jerk at all, you’re absolutely right. I would love to see more WoW blogs writing about their lives too.
I hadn’t thought of it as justification, but in a way I guess it is. I just sat here Christmas day and thought why the hell am I doing this, it makes no sense, it’s turning into work, and becoming less fun!
Also, I should have said “Up Yours!” in place of screw you up there
Well I have a personal blog, and 2 gaming blogs. LOL! I like to compartmentalize my life.
.-= Rivs´s last blog ..Another MMO I’ll be keeping an eye on. =-.
Holy Cow! That’s alot of blogging. But if it works for you that’s cool! Wasn’t working for me anymore…lol
Your blog about you… all of your thoughts and perspective. Love it! Now I don’t have to subscribe to two blogs to get all of you. =)
.-= Hydra´s last blog ..Yes, Hydra, there is a Porn Claus =-.
Thank you Hydra!
I think I like you more and more with every post of yours that I read. I’m going to let you in on a little secret…
There have been many WoW-related blogs that I at least tried out. Some of them have become regulars for me, others I only read once in a while, and others I dicarded after reading only one or two articles.
The thing that my regularly-visted blogs all have in common is that I like the writer’s personality. That and writing style are very important when it comes to whether or not I want to make a point of reading that particular blog. My favorite blogs are those that make me think “I wish I could meet this persn IN person and shake their hand.”
You’re one of those people. So there’s no danger of you losing this particular reader, because I like what you write, no matter what it’s about.
And thank you, thank you, thank you for disregarding the concept of “real life friends” as a separate category. It’s a position I’ve held for a long time. There are many friends that I met online, and with whom my contact has been exclusively via e-mail, Facebook, etc. And yet these people have had such an impact on my life that they can’t be anything but “friends”, plain and simple.
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoy it Will. That’s what interests me in a blog as well. The people factor more than the the topic of the blog. The “real Life” thing has been bothering me for quite a while too.
Well, I at least promised I’d leave an encouraging comment.
In short, hooray for you! Glad you can reconcile the WoW-playing-you with the rest of your life, including the part that I coerced into playing shooters. Never thought I’d see the day that you’d do that.
*returns to perching on your shoulder*
.-= Stop´s last blog ..Behold! A guest post from the inimitable Leafshine =-.
Haha thanks Stop, and I never thought I’d see the day either!
Well, WoW is a part of your life… soooooo… why not combine them. I always read both anyhow, because I enjoy your writing. Now I only have to remember where one is… you know.. the old “sometimers” setting in…..
True, but you’re my Mom, you’re just stuck with me! haha and thank you:)
I’ll tell you what the real problem is with “mixing it up” like this, and it has nothing to do with stereotypes or reader expectation or whatever. The problem is you’re confusing my blog reader! Which category do I put your blog in now? WoW? General gaming? Personal blogs?
(Just in case it wasn’t obvious, I don’t actually think there’s any problem with it. Having never read your personal blog before, I actually liked the new posts)
LOL thanks! Well wherever you put me is fine, I’m an army wife, I’m used to it!
